About
Why is it that banks, financial institutions, corporations, and the wealthy can risk large sums of money in the stock market but I can't play online poker? No matter how you slice it, they're both gambling. The only difference is that my gambling is on a much smaller scale. If I lose, I'm not going to hurt anyone (except maybe my family), but if the big guys do it, they could ruin the lives of many Americans.
Across the world, citizens of almost every country are allowed to play online poker. But here in “the land of the free,” our government tells us what we can and can't do with our money. I can buy a gun or die for my country but I can't play online poker? What? I'm not hurting anyone!
Tens of millions of Americans play poker. Many of them online. Presently, our government is not taxing either the businesses or the players. Do the math. Online poker has the potential to generate billions of dollars of much needed tax revenue, supplement household incomes, and create thousands of jobs while boosting our economy . In fact, the Joint Committee on Taxation found that regulating Internet gaming would generate nearly $42 billion over the next 10 years.
We deserve the right to enjoy our freedoms and play this game of skill we love. I am asking you to support my liberties by licensing and regulating online poker in the United States . As poker players, we must stand together and have our voices heard. Please help us fund a billboard in Washington DC. Tell your friends, post to your Facebook, Twitter the campaign, let’s make this a reality.
